New Short Story!! Enjoy :)
Summer sits at her desk bored out
of her mind. Nothing is currently going on in the world of police needs today. Why
can’t something exciting happen here. The phone rings, Hello APD how can I help
you? The lady on the other end was screaming and crying I could not understand
a word she said. Calm down please and try to speak clearly. The woman’s name is
Linda she and her husband Harold were camping in the Cibola National forest
when they woke up this morning, they realized both of their children were
missing. She drove into town to call the cops while her husband stayed at their
camp site to see if the kids show up. We got the address and camping spot
telling the mother to hold tight we would be there soon.
Summer explained the situation to
her Chief of police, he assigned her to the case. She is the best tracker in
the whole pack. She has always been aware she had an ability to find small clues
to find whoever or whatever she is missing. So far, she has found 150 kids all
over the country. Summer has never allowed a kid to stay missing once she was
brought in on the case. Snow loves this
part I have to go in wolf form, so it looks like mine a dog…NO I DON’T LIKE
IT!!! But humans just do not understand about us, or what to try to understand.
Snow gets to act like he is my master. He enjoys it and he will not let it go
for months at a time. I put up with it because I get to save a child or two in
this case.
When we arrived, the mother explained
she has a little girl that is six years old, and a son that is 10 years old. They
were sharing a tent with each other. Mother seems to think that they went to
the bathroom and got lost on the way there or the way back. Snow took one of
the kid’s shirts and held it up to my nose so I can catch the sent. It was the little
girl she smelled like blue cotton candy. Then the boys, was next he smelled
like fresh cut grass. I got that telling Snow through mind link we are ready to
go. He took off my pretend leash, explaining that I or the dog would find the children.
I rolled my eyes at him and told him to kiss my ass, as I took off into the woods.
I was running for over an hour before I picked up the little boys sent. I could
not smell the little girls sent anywhere close by. I got the boy to climb on my
back and started my hour run back towards their camp.
The parents hugged the little boy
very tight while they all cried with each other. I told Snow he needs to
question the boy I need to know what to head next. I walked over and the boy
hugged my neck, I turned my head and licked his face, which caused him to
giggle. Snow asked the boy when, was the last time he saw his sister. He looked
confused but said she was in the tent when he left to use the bathroom, and he
has not seen her since then. I told Snow I was off now; I would start from the
back of the tent and see where things would take me. She has already been out
in the woods for over five hours. I picked up her sent at the tent and followed
it down to the river, looking both ways down the riverbank. I saw something pink
down the river on the far bank. I ran over turning back into my human self. She
was cold but she had a pulse. I gave her CPR, while sending Snow a message
about what I found and what I was doing. Snow reached me taking over CPR. The little
girl coughed, and water shot out of her nose and mouth. Hearing her couch made
me smile and my heart felt like it could beat normal again. The little girl whose
name in Lilly hugged me, getting as close to my fur as possible, Ware’s
naturally run hot so I am sure he is warming up on our walk about from the
river. We called ahead to the EMT’s to let them know we found her and her
condition.
Her mother runs over to her touching
her hand telling her that she is going to be alright. They load her up in the ambulance,
followed by her mother so they can take them to the hospital to treat her injury’s.
The father carried his little boy to the car, ready to follow the ambulance to
the hospital. Snow pats me on the back, well your count increased by two. You
are awesome Summer you have saved 152 children in the last five years. It makes
me smile knowing how much I have made a difference. We climbed into the car
just as my phone rang. I looked down and smiled while answering the phone.
Hello, Love, I have added two more kids to my found list. He is always
supportive and proud of me. He makes me smile. I tell him I love him and will
see him tonight. Time to finish up paperwork at the office.
